This is such a great feature - any chance I can use it in my brandnew D7 community website?

there will be a d7 version when I get a chance, but no, you can't just install the d6 version into a d7 site.

Looks like this module will not be necessary for d7-- see the much more flexible and widely used countries module for d7.

Then, can you please update the project's page with a link to it suggesting people to give that module a try for D7?

...setting to active to make sure this doesn't get off of the maintainer's radar.

Unfortunately, Countries module is not for displaying user IP in comments: #1447776: How to display country flags in comment links?

WorldFallz’s picture

countries is still probably the place for this, especially since the maintainer seems amenable, but this is such a small module I'll run it through coder and see if I can get a d7 version usable in the meantime. Then maybe I can find some time to post a patch over to that countries issue.

I just committed a new dev branch for d7 -- the dev snapshot should show up sometime within the next 12hours. Works great so far.

And the more I look at the complexity of the countries module, the more I think I'll keep this one around. Seems overkill to use countries for this simple feature. I invite anyone to comment if they think otherwise.

fyi-- also exposed country info to comment views.

On a fresh Drupal 7 site:

1. I have activated the correct versions of Comment Country (7.x-1.x-dev) and Country Icons (7.x-1.x) modules
2. On 'admin/config/regional/comment_country' have selected Comment Body as Location of Appended Country Information and activated all three options (Country Name, Country Code, Country Flag) as Country Information to Append.
3. Added a comment and, unfortunately, saw no country information. There is tiny strip of a, for same reason not US flag, though I am in US, as it is shown on an attached screenshot.

What am I doing wrong?

After I entered IPinfoDB.com API Key everything started to work correctly. I believe README documentation for the module should clearly state that IPinfoDB.com API Key is a requirement.

good idea-- updated the readme.txt file.

With the commit of the d7 version this issue was closed-- please open new issues for anything new with the d7 version. thanks.
