It would be great if we had the option to exclude nodes, taxonomies, or even nodes/taxonomies based on permissions in the Taxonomy Access Control module from showing each of the different types of plugin.

You can use blocks (instead of cck field) and show/hide them based on some conditions. I think this is out of the scope of this module
