What about the integration with colorbox/lightbox? Examples of it can be found in gallery formatter or views slideshow, where you can open each slide in the box.

Would be another nice extension, I think...

You are so quick! Thanks a lot, for your effort.
Unfortunately, it does not work for me. I tried today's dev version and i can select colorbox as image style but the image won't be clickable. if i link the image to file, it gives the usual behavior, but not a lightbox....

Strange… working fine for me.
Can you download the latest dev once more (to be sure), and clear the cache?
You can look at my screenshots, with settings and results.

Can you post a screenshot with your settings, so I can test with the same options?

Ok, I uploaded the dev version again(the same as yesterday, I think) and than I could select under link to -> colorbox. Before, this entry didn't exist. But now it works very well! Thanks a lot!

Ah, the only thing I don't like too much, is that the caption text is also linked to the colorbox/ imagefile/ node (so this does not belong into this issue...) And...it also does not concern field_slideshow, but it just came up now for me...I will see if I can find the right place for that, or perhaps someone already figured out how to avoid this behaviour...

Yes, you can open a new issue for captions…
Perhaps I can add a setting for "caption link" as well.

I see the current version of field slideshow works with colorbox now, but still no lightbox2 support... I've been trying to add the support myself, but I'm not really the php-genius. Any ideas how one would go about this?
