Promoting sandbox projects to full projects

Last updated May 7, 2013.

You can promote a sandbox project to a full project once given proper permissions. Obtaining these permissions requires going through a one-time approval process.

Note that this is a one-way operation only; you cannot demote a full project back to the sandbox.

  1. Visit your sandbox project's page.
  2. Click the Edit tab, then the Promote sub-tab.
  3. Fill out the form, being sure to enter a project shortname.
  4. Submit the form and confirm that, yes, you want to promote the project.

Once your sandbox is promoted, the repository is moved from /sandbox/username/123456.git to project/project_name.git. At this point you must either re-clone your project in Git or update your remote url.

Note 1: The "Promote" sub tab is not visible for projects of type "Drupal core" or "Drupal.org Projects". This is for your own safety.

Note 2: The "Promote" sub tab can be found under the "/project/user" -> click the "Edit" for your project.

FOR PROJECTS THAT WENT THROUGH THE APPLICATION REVIEW

For the sake of tracing issues related to the project created during the Application Review, it's recommended to create an issue in the project with a link to the corresponding issue in the Project Applications queue (see example).

Doing this already in the sandbox during review is even better so anyone finding the sandbox knows it might turn into a full project.

Use 100% Open Source, go Ubuntu. Dual boot easier than ever, no partitioning needed.
