solona commentedYes, I'm needing this also. Trying to find a workaround.

mkinnan commentedI have been using version 6.x-3.x-dev (2010-Sep-14) and was not having this issue.
I updated to version 6.x-3.x-dev (2011-Apr-27) and now having this issue.
I have a view with field 'Node: Has new content' excluded from displayed and a rewrite output to display an image instead of the 'new' or 'updated' text. The problem is when I updated to the latest dev version, the image shows up for every node regardless of whether or not there is new content for the node.
I attached the view export of both cases. However, I don't think it will help much. If I export the view from the 6.x-3.x-dev (2011-Apr-27) version and import into the 6.x-3.x-dev (2010-Sep-14) version, I don't have the issue.

dawehnerThere is a patch on #1020540: Add a "Hide Rewriting if field is empty" option
