Input filtering by node type

I've been working on a 4.6.9 installation of Drupal for over a year, and I'm wondering if I'm missing something here: Is there any way to assign input filtering types directy to node types, in additiion to user roles?

For example, I have one node type where I want to give authenticated users Full HTML privileges when posting - but for all other node types I want those same authenticated users to use Basic Markup filtering only. It seems to me that I wouldn't be the only one who would want something like this; I'm wondering if there's some simple way to do this that I've overlooked. My thanks in advance for your feedback.
