Hi, is there any way to trim the node template you want to use? say I got 5 something-node.tpl.php, but I only want in the dropdown to chose 3 of this templates.

how could I get this to work?

Yes and No. Currently, no. But this is something that came up some time back that is planned for the next release. Unfortunately, time has been terribly difficult to find to work on this.
