This is new and I hate it. Im using pantheon 1.2 and it is really not what I like on my site.

There is nothing related to this inside the Varnish module. This module is a general purpose component and has nothing to do with Pantheon except that it is used as a part of the default Pantheon drupal installation. You should check with the Pantheon people regarding Pantheon stuff.
