I have tried to create an attendance based assighnment,

1) create content type task (my assignment type), select that this is an attendance assignment
2) gave total possible points 100
3) student creates response to assignment, due before the date attendance is taken
4) record P for present
5) assignment remains ungraded even though attendance has been recorded

I thought that attendance based assignments were automatically scored if student was marked as present?

my classes are going strong and I really would like to use this. I know iu have put gradebook on the baack burner but any info is appreciated.

When editing the assignment node there is an "attendance assignment settings" fieldset. Have you checked the box to make the assignment an attendance assignment. And did you provide points to give if student is present, absent and tardy (also in that fieldset)?

Those are the fields that are used to provide points each time attendance is taken while the assignment is active.

What are you putting in for the "starting on" and "ending on" dates (under assignment settings when you edit the assignment node). Does it work correctly if you move the starting date 1 day earlier than the actual date you want the assignment to start on?
