Duplicate entries in Aggregator

I'm using drupal core aggregator module in Drupal 4.7.5...........
My RSS feed (from google news) never has duplicate entries in it
when I call the feed manually, yet Drupal is storing multiple entries
in the Drupal database (aggregator_feed_items, or something like that).
So, when you go to the aggregator feed on my drupal site, or you look
at the aggregator feed block, you see multiple entries for various stories.
My cron job runs every hour and I have the feed set to update every hour.
Any idea what's going on?

Duplicate entries too
I've been getting duplicate entries, but lately the problem has got worse (using aggregator module under Drupal 4.7.3), and it seems to be generating huge numbers of duplicates. Ideally, there would be some patch that just automatically weeds out all duplicate entries, whether generated by the feed or by the aggregator (though it seems to be the latter, given that it's happening in many different feeds). Does such a thing exist?

Yes, 7/21 of 2008 and te duplicate problem still exists
Yes, I have also gotten duplicates on the aggregator since I have installed in. Sometimes the same article will appear six or eight times. I have looked occasionally if this problem has been addressed. I have found nothing to date. Seems like it should be a simple fix... but, i guess people have other things do do.
