for those who are using this module, I'm thinking of the next major release…
So if you have major changes request, please tell me…

The first thing I'm thinking of is the complete override of the default core search. That should be a lot of work, but I was sometime asked some little things that the core search doesn't allow, so the rewrite will allow me to:

  • make empty searches, and if you've selected a taxonomy term or a content type, list all nodes with those filters applied (à la View Exposed Filters)
  • control pagination
  • display correct counts of results

These are my very first thoughts, so let me hear your voices…

I'm so happy to hear about Custom Search V2 features. One thing would be great feature is to integrate with Views for the search result. Can't wait for this V2, and don't forget to make this for D7 as well. Again I would love to PayPal you about 100usd for your hard work and hope others who love your project will do the same.

What do you mean by "Views integration"?

I mean if its possible to integrate with Views module http://drupal.org/project/views, so we can set the search result based on Views.

Planned as well:

  • Ability to choose a default content type in content filter
  • Ability to choose a default term in taxonomy filters

Example, I have product page that created with Views..when user do the search with some taxonomy filters, the result of searching will be based on product page that created with Views, not default search result. Hope you understand :)

I think I understand…
Have you tried to use the Custom search paths? If you want to redirect a search to a Views page, I think it works.
Try something like 'products/[key]|Products' for this setting.

What's the status?
The 'empty search' with e.g. taxonomy filters would be a nice approach and could be an excess value to the drupal core search module!

Just chiming in here to ask about the status. I think the idea to make empty searches is a wonderful addition. This effectively would combine search with the vocabindex module (not for D7 and will not be too) which would create the possibility to have an incredibly customizable advanced search page.

First, thank you for this beautiful module. It works like charm.

Just to explain -
I have enabled a custom search form for content type 'product'. It searches all the products very nicely. Now i want to search product based on value of one of the cck field in the content type. so lets say for e.g. price. so after selecting content type for the search, can we have facility to add other fields of the content type in the search form?
