data loss when re-using gmaps fields in different contenttypes

i use a gmaps anp field F in contentype A und created some nodes.
for a test i created another contenttype B and reused field F. after finishing the test i deleted the contenttype B.

this results in data loss for field F for ALL existing nodes of contenttype A!
seems when a contenttype = field gets deleted, the module flushes the whole field-database?!
