I'm having trouble putting the search box in the header block. When I place it there it shows in the administrative back-end but does not show on the front end once I sign out. The settings are set to allow anyone to view the search field block so that's not the issue. Not sure if this is a bug or user error. Please fill me in.

jadragna commentedSorry, it was user error. I forgot to change search permissions. Apologies. Please clear this issue.

plaverty commentedI'm having the same problem. Where do I change the search permissions? I'm looking under the Permissions screen, but I don't see anything for Search. Is it somewhere else?

gtsopour commentedHello plaverty
1. You should give the permission to anonymous user to "Use search" at People->Permissions->Search
2. You should put the "Search form" block in header region at Structure->Blocks

kiltedscotsman5 commentedJust running across this one... I am in Drupal 7, when I go to Configure > People, I don't see a Permissions tab or section. Is there a module I need to add?
(I am new to Drupal, so there may be something obvious I am missing)
UPDATE FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER:
Never mind. I'm a dolt, but I found it eventually.

iarc13 commented#3 helped. I had disabled search and re-enabled it. Discovered that disabling the module deleted the block configuration. I had to add that block to header again. If you notice, drupal does warn that the block configuration would be deleted.
