i was wondering if it would be possible to expand the modules access control capabilities - say if there are more options for users like "see content type 1" "content type 3" and so on? Because now the module allows for only two levels of access - it would be great if these could be like four or five maybe. Do you think this could be easily done?

At the moment there's no access control modules for drupal 5 besides the taxonomy access control - i think - and it's really too bulky to use, and simple access module (which is really what i need) is only available for v4.7

Unfortunately, the focus here really is to provide the bare minimum. Private module is modeled on features from blogging services like Blogger, where a simple 'keep this private' flag is meant to prevent random passers-by from reading a post.

TAC, TAC Lite, and a couple others are available for 5.0, and I believe others are in the works...
