bojanz commentedAgreed. I always disable it, and re-enable Toolbar.
damien tournoud commented+1 here too. If the Commerce IA doesn't work with just the toolbar and the overlay, we need to fix it.

smokinggoat commentedOK, I'm gonna be a jackass ;-)... I prefer Admin Menu since you can jump to sub-menu items (as opposed to multiple clicks). Any better solution for D7 than default menu system?
bojanz commentedAs I said on IRC, it's a matter of consistency.
If D7 looks and works the way it does, and everyone's getting used to, it's not up to us to change it via this install profile..

mikejoconnor commentedThats whats so great about Drupal, you can customize it to your own preferences.
Out of the box, I think its important to do what people expect, out of the box.
Bojhan commentedCan anyone supply a patch, I think this is a good idea.
We don't have admin_menu in core, because it exposes user to the greater admin listing - where we really only want to give them bit sized pieces of our IA as they learn to move around within Drupal. It's a great tool for efficiency, and it could be of great use further down the road with more experienced users but for the "kick-starter" profile - this is not the goal.
I think the arguments of others in this thread, make sense to - having consistency on this allows you to take parts of Drupal that are already good for a specific audience.

pcambraHere is a patch for this, to foster this change :D
Comment #10
pcambraAs thill commented in IRC, if we don't have admin_menu, we should have toolbar :)
Bojhan commentedSeems fine.
rszrama commentedAnd if we have the toolbar, we should have a palette of shortcuts so it's actually more usable than Admin Menu.
(Looks like there's an issue already here: #1101266: Change shortcuts)
Bojhan commentedYou mean like, #1101266: Change shortcuts ? Not sure if this patch should be postponed on it, but please comment there which shortcuts are needed - should be a easy thing to do.
rszrama commentedCommitted this at the sprint.
