Hello

I have set up Drupal 7 with 123-reg.co.uk - I am using the recommended download release. It seems that whenever anyone initiates a session, i.e. logs in the server starts generating some very strange URLs, e.g. http://www.boycombe.com/websites/123reg/LinuxPackage21/bo/yc/om/boycombe...

It does not happen for general visitors who don't login.

I know that clean urls are not enabled here but that doesn't make any difference it still happens. I have the same site running with another host and it is fine. Should I be worried about it or do some hosts show the URLs like this?

The other thing that doesn't seem to work is the image cache resizing. it puts the two files in the folder (the original and the cropped) and then doesn't seem to know which to use, so displays nothing.

If anyone has had similar experience with this I would be very pleased to hear from you.

Can you tell me if your still having trouble with using Drupal on 123 Reg.

I just had this same problem and just in case somebody else finds this post, the solution is actually covered in the Clean URLs handbook and in comments in the .htaccess file.

Put simply you need to set the RewriteBase in the .htaccess file. This should just involved uncommenting one line to it reads:

# If your site is running in a VirtualDocumentRoot at http://example.com/,
# uncomment the following line:
RewriteBase /

If you're one 123-reg and don't have shell access to make this change, you'll obviously need to get your .htaccess file, modify it and upload it to the host again. Once I did this, the URLs were fixed immediately.

Did this fix the problem entirely?
I get the /websites/123reg/LinuxPackage24/60/10/_o/mysite.org.uk/public_html/ url stuff, and I have had a play with the .htaccess file, but usually end up with a server error.
It seems to effect the site when just entering the root address http://mysite.org.uk The site appears ok but clicking on menu items has no effect until all the other linuxpackage stuff appears.
It also effects images. Images do not appear unless at the sites/all/files.
I cannot use image formats, because they will not display, and I have put that down to the same issue.

What needs to be in the index.php file? at the moment I have the $BaseUrl set to mysite.org.uk.
I tried to add all the other stuff and get an error.

I would really like to get this sorted so a definative solution can be posted to hel others who are experiencing similar.

I made no other changes other than those mentioned above to .htaccess
