cron somehow interrupts MySql connection

First of all, i am not sure if this is a poormanscron related issue but the error certainly occurs when this module invokes the cron to run.
I made mention of this issue elsewhere but haven't had any response to it, so thought to go here, probably the cause.

Mainly it occurs more if i have poormanscron set to run more frequently, e.g. every 60 minutes. Set at 120minutes, the same error occurs every say 3 or 4 hours.

What it does?
The following:
- lost connection to MySQL server
- unable to save set in ....
- Server shutdown in progress query
