is there work being done to integrate the salmon protocol ( http://www.salmon-protocol.org/ ) into the drupal commenting system, either at the module level or in the core?

i have only been able to find vague meta-discussions about the future of commenting in drupal, so my apologies if this is already being discussed or if there is a better place to discuss commenting.

i am intrigued by the potential of salmon to solve a nagging problem in the current "social" web -- basically fracturing of discussions around content. i think salmon seems pretty clever, and obviously needs some momentum to hit critical mass. might be nice to use drupal to experiment.

there is a module "under development". but it seems to just be a .info file now.

also discovered hints of more work being done on github.
