Sorry, I searched for this but couldn't find it. I want to disable the "advanced search" option on a drupal 5 site. It is best if this is only available to certain user roles, but if this is not possible, then I want it gone. How can this be achieved?

Change permissions
The access control has an option to "use advanced search". Disable that for whatever roles you don't want access, and you're done.
Thanks!!
Thanks, you saved me!! :))))
Hi, I've disabled this
Hi,
I've disabled this function for all roles, yet user 1 (who has a specified role in which 'use advanced search' is also disabled) still gets a advanced search form on the search result page. I this because it's user 1 and user 1 can always access everything or is this something I'm doing wrong or is this a bug?
Cheers
PS. Drupal 5.x

Yeah, that's normal.
User 1 can always do anything, totally bypassing the permissions.
This is a bit awkward, because you can't even choose to turn off 'features' like node log comments and this one when you want to...
So that's totally normal behaviour :-/
But the best thing it does is encourage you to set up and use an actual admin role. Using user 1 all the time is a little bit like logging in as root to a server all the time. ... A tiny bit :-)

Hi Dan,
Thanx for your reply. I suspected it to be something like that. Tho I found it weird that you can give a user a role with access settings if it doesn't stick to them.
But it seems logic to have one superuser. I'll be setting up a 2nd user for admin after reading your reply!
Thanx again!
Cheers
