There are cases where you want attendees to pay extra to attend particular sessions. Examples include an optional banquet or a speaker who charges a high speaking fee.

This was asked as the final question at the Drupalcon Chicago COD session. Ezra's recommendation was to make the session content type both Signup enabled and an Ubercart product class. This scenario should probably be tested.

In 7.x you can set these up as additional tickets on the event node OR add a ticket field to your sessions.
