We have seen that many times - people are trying to use Open Publish for even smallest sites and never use probably 95% of features available in the Standard install profile.

This results with huge resources wasting due to "using super heavy truck to deliver one pizza!"

There are already very nice alternatives like NodeStream, or known earlier Prosepoint, but maybe you could consider introducing also Open Publish Mini install profile? It could help in supporting publishing needs for small sites, while providing them also bigger option, but as an option, not as a default install.
