Currently the same states and permissions apply to any content type with moderation enabled. This was on our internal wish-list before releasing to drupal.org. I'm not sure how high of a priority this is.

This functionality was in the module earlier in the development cycle; in fact, is still present, but we hid it because it generates a humongous matrix of permissions. Its availability is controlled by a hidden variable, so we should probably expose this variable in the UI.
