where is the equivalent of the admin/settings page in Drupal 5.0 ? I can't find it on the menu

I mean the part where additional modules have their own configuraton settings?

To admin the modules you can either
1) go to Administer, then click the By module tab at the top (which I find to be easiest)
or 2) Administer > Site Configuration has more of the classic menu listing as well as other settings (like clean urls)

in general the new admin-üages are a lot nicer ;-)

but where have the mail settings gone?

can't find the place to configure how drupal should send out email anymore.

Do you mean the main site email from address or the contact form email addresses?

Site email from is under Administer > Site configuration > Site Information

Contact form is under Administer > Site building > Contact Form

Going to the main Administer page gives you an overall view of all your menus so if you take time to look that over and think about what you are looking for you should be able to find what you need on that screen. If you just systematically go through the menus you will begin to understand where things are. Just like learning Drupal menus the first time, you need to just play with them for a while.

The mail templates are in admin/user/settings if that's what you're looking for.
