The launch of the website www.independentmusic.co.za aims to assist independent South African musicians in getting their music to their fans.
There is a wealth of dynamic and world class music produced in South Africa by talented and independent local musicians. This website provides a platform through which they can sell their albums both locally and internationally, while ensuring they are properly compensated financially for each album sale. (We don't do Mp3s at this time.)
The musicians themselves decide how much the album (CD) will sell for. The website retains an extremely modest commission of R25 of the sale price of each album, with the balance going directly to the musicians involved in creating the music.
If you're passionate about music, ordering CD's through this website is the best way to support the South African music industry, secure in the knowledge that the bulk of the price of each CD is going where it should, to the musicians.

nice design, but where are
nice design, but where are the music samples? no audio clips of the music? are you kidding? at least i didnt see any.
Sample Audio
Hey there, yes indeed, we have been trying to get the Artists to cut their tracks down to 30 - 60 seconds for samples, but most, being in South Africa, don't have audio editing software, or the know how at home.
We've also been struggling with a multiple audio playlist, in Drupal for some werid reason...
So this is currently under development. Any thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome.
For now we're just using the 1 Pixelout player... playing just 1 sample audio track.
