socialtalker - January 17, 2007 - 00:31

going nuts installing 4.7, i have decided to scrap it, and just start all over with version 5. i hadn't yet got to working on themes, i was still installing modules, i guess you could say i went module crazy...its going to be a big community site and might as well switch over now, while it has no content or customization and 5 has not too many modules, so i wont go as nuts. lol. i cant believe i am doing it, but no point in upgrading since there is nothing on it yet. here i go.....

Viva Drupal !

Florian - January 20, 2007 - 01:39

Your decision shows what a great community Drupal is. You have plenty of modules for Drupal 5.0 to choose from.

Good luck to you ... and Viva Drupal !

Would be a great idea for drupal.org to provide a similar service for future releases, at least when there are major changes. CiviCRM has always done this for all its releases.

we have been friends for a long time already.
I am glad that you seem to be healthy and well,
furthermore, I see you getting stronger and stronger each day.

Even though we are parted geographically (I live in Lithuania),
I feel that our bonds are stronger than ever.

Wishing you all the best in your future activities.

jQuery 1.1 also released today... ok for Drupal 5.0 use?

wbj - January 15, 2007 - 18:32

I see that jQuery also had a birthday. According to http://jquery.com/blog/, jQuery 1.1 was released earlier today.

Is the jQuery 1.1 compressed .js file a safe "drop-in" upgrade to Drupal 5.0 sites?

Thanks!

Southpaw - January 15, 2007 - 19:29

I am also wondering the same thing :)

No

Steven - January 15, 2007 - 21:21

If you read the jQuery 1.1 announcement you can see they broke backwards compatibility. There is a 1.0 compatibility plug-in, but it has not been tested with Drupal 5. Stick to jQuery 1.0 for now.

I liked Joomla!'s comment:

Our two projects are often compared, and there is nothing wrong with comparison... but make no mistake of it, we are all on the same side working to enable people... because we both believe that open source matters.

It's good to hear that Joomla! and Drupal are "friends with common goals."

Just a heads up for frontpage users...

rnd - January 19, 2007 - 08:17

I had some issues upgrading to 5.0, tried several times over but I always got "Page not found" finally I did the smart thing and checked the log to find out that drupal was looking for /frontpage. So I just restored my db backup again and disabled the frontpage redirect before trying the upgrade again. No problems... In retrospect I realize it might have also worked to simply install the frontpage module for 5.0 before upgrading, but I haven't tried it...

I hope this helps someone aviod the frustration I felt dealing with this problem!

Good luck all!
