It takes a long time to recreate the exact same task, only for a different class. I would be nice to reuse tasks.I think I mentioned this before. Also really need some help on the attendance assignment thing in the other thread.

By tasks do you mean assignment nodes?

If so, look into the Node Clone module. This is what I use to use previous assignments as templates for new assignments.

I don't think this should be done within Gradebook because the assignments are not created within gradebook...

Im a little bit scared to use this because the nodes are prety complex.... have you seen the way questions are stored in the quiz modulke?

The problem is oassignments are distributed through gradebook,. If I distribute to one group, there is the option to select other groups, however each group has its own gradign scale, and their own gradebook.

I just spent nearly 2.5 hours to distribute 12 tasks in total to 6 different groups. It took a REALLY long time.

There must be a way that we can make a task and distribute it to multile groups or reuse it similiar to the quiz module.

Pleae think aboutit. it takes sooooo long to create distribute tasks.

the 12 sepereate tasks I assigned were actually only 2 different versions of the same thin, duplicated .

The node clone which you pointed to has many imcompatibilities...

I have to agree with MGN. We shouldn't shove every possible feature into Gradebook when other modules should be used.

However, this subject does bring up the idea of reusable material. When talking to some education people at DrupalCon Chicago they expressed a need for things like rubric support. There is also the whole SCORM can of worms. This is the type of thing needed to get more Moodle type features in Drupal, but starting new modules would probably be the way to go.

Yeah, I think that I would have to break out a new module to organize/reuse content, since gradebook in its current form doesn't create any content types of its own. I will look into quiz further, just to be sure I didn't miss something.

I have really found node_clone to be useful. Perhaps if it is lacking in some way, contributions should be made to that module.

For now I am going to mark this as postponed to indicate that 1) I am not ready to take up this task, 2) I don't think it belongs within the current set of gradebook modules, but 3) a new (optional) module could be created to do this, so if anyone else want's to pick up the task, go for it!

Node Clone works, great, except it does not have a valid selection for the scale... the actual scale for the group being graded is not available in the drop down list, other thatn that everythingt works....

Any ideas how to get the scale to work with node clone?

Without digging into this, it sounds like the node clone process is not getting a group context set. As a result it wouldn't know what group it's in. I'm not exactly giving a solution, but I hope I'm at least pointing n the right direction.

If you select the correct group and save the assignment the next time you edit it you'll have the correct scales available. I suppose this could be fixed using ahah to populate the options on the form...I'll have to look into it further.
