How to create a "View map" link to Google Maps

Install the Location module and enable the CCK location field.

Go to admin/settings/location/geocoding & enable the Google Maps geocoder for United States
(or whatever country you're adding locations for)
Go to admin/settings/location/maplinking & Make sure the Google Maps checkbox for the country you're searching in is checked
Add a location field to you the content type you want to have this map link
Configure the settings for the location field and make sure 'Map Links' Location display settings at the bottom box is NOT checked
Create a node of the content type you added the location field to and enter the address information (leave the lat/long blank)
The node should show the address and a link to Google Maps, click the link and you're on the Google Maps website!

How about if you elected to display the content type's fields instead of using a display of nodes or teasers?

Is it possible to assemble the Map Link with available information somehow?

Is it my imagination, or is the United Kingdom not on the list of countries in either Map links or Geocoding options within Administration/Configuration/Content authoring/Location? Bits of the UK (Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey) seem to be represented, but not the larger sections (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland) nor the thing as a whole, either as the UK or as Great Britain. I wondered if this was maybe something to do with specifying the UK as the default country in the Main settings, but I changed the default to a different country without effect. What gives?

Hi,

I am using the latest version of location module 7.x-4.x and I can't see UK listed in Map Links. Have renamed "location.uk.inc" to "location.gb.inc" and renamed all the country codes in ZipCodes table from UK to GB. I got it most of it working by this, but still no map links.

As I understand it the information isn't available for free. The Royal Mail sells the information so you can get it that way.
