Can a developer come up with a version 7.x?

I'll chip in USD 50. If we can a few people who'll donate, we should be able to get something going, since version 6.x isn't even out yet.

FWIW, there is a sandbox version of 6.0 here.

I looked a few weeks ago at the status of the modules I used in creating this version. My approach was simple and based on using features. However, not all the modules I used are available in D7. Over the next couple of weeks, I will take a stab at seeing how much I can get with what is now available.

Others of course very welcome to push ahead.

FYI, I've created an initial D7 version and made it available here.

I believe it is complete except that it does not support voting answers up/down (the modules I use to support that have not yet been ported).

The D7 version-in-progress is now available here ... no need to go to the "Alternative Answers" sandbox.
