The latest 4.7.x release (Nov 13, 2006) of this module is quite broken. Not only is it hard to understand what needs to be filled in, but the user buttons code contained a confusing bug as well.
I have largely improved the usability of this module : fixing the bugs, mailing the password, allowing to provide the password, visit the archive, visit the mailman web interface and added far better help and field descriptions. In order to add these features, the database scheme needed an update. This update function is supplied as well. Hence the update.php script needs to be run. This may be done on an existing installation.
The module is now also usable for users who have already subscribed to one of the lists outside of drupal. They can supply their password.
Note that this module only supports MySQL.
$ cd mailman_manager
$ patch -p1 < mailman_manager-major_rework.patch
It seems to work fine here (Drupal 4.7.5). Your mileage may vary.
