One would think that embedding media would be a feature that would ship with today's wysiwyg interface. Definitely not the case.

Embedding a youtube video via wysiwyg. Is it possible?

I have tried all solutions outlined on Drupal.org and I still haven't found one that works with my recipe. How would I approach making a module to handle this, that follows drupal (and basic programming) conventions?

Any ideas? Do I have to offer a bounty for a solution to this?

Did you happen to read the ReadMe that comes with the module? You might enjoy the section on MediaEmbed

MediaEmbed is a simple plugin that can be helpful when embedding Youtube movies (for example).
To enable it, do the following...

You might want to try the Video Filter module. It supports YouTube, Vimeo, blip.tv and a lot of other video hosts. Also integrates with WYSIWYG and CKEditor.
