robert castelo commentedCan't say for sure how soon, but yes it will be updated to Drupal 5.
jwilde commentedAre there any plans to update news page to 5.0? Let me know or I'll maybe take a stab at it.
Thanks,
Jim

manuj_78 commentedJim,
As per Robertos comment, it might take him some time to port it to drupal 5
So you might as well try it.
robert castelo commentedI've been thinking of converting News Page into a CCK module. So that you can add filtered RSS agregation to any content type you make.
Any thoughts on that?
jwilde commentedSounds like a good idea but in the meantime I've started to update 4.7 to 5.x. I think with a cck module it would be a lot more interesting.

jwilde commentedhere are the files for 5.x

manuj_78 commentedi like the concept of news_page as a separate module rather than using cck. since a lot of people including me do not use CCK, keeping it as a separate module is more convenient I guess

dsamuel commentedSubscribing - I'd love to try the port when it is ready. Willing to test - I am tolerant to faults in the module itself as long as it is safe for a production site in terms of the rest of the site.
I want to use it on my allergy information website to aggregate specific types of stories from other websites. Filtering on key words will be essential in providing value to visitors, which is why I haven't implemented an aggregator yet on my site.

manuj_78 commentedI plan to port my site to Drupa l5 in a couple of weeks. Once that is completed, I shall start testing this module as well

FlemmingLeer commentedAnything new, Robert Castello ?
efolia commentedI did a quick port of the module to Drupal 5 (attached, zip format) while re-engineering an existing site ported to 5.1 last night. I tested it with my existing settings and it seems to work fine, as everything seemed to work just as it did under 4.7. The idea of making this a CCK module is great, but I could not wait, so there you go. The original code is basically the same, short of a few corrections, ported to meet the version 5.x specs.
Please review and test thoroughly before using on a live site, as usual.
Rename the ".patch" extension as ".zip" before using.
Cheers :-)

manuj_78 commentedGood News.
I have had this patch running on my website for some months now and it seems to work.
:-)
robert castelo commentedCommited.
Thanks for the patch efolia, I had very little work to do polishing up (just a few help links).
Thanks for testing manuj_78.
