romca commentedi am having hard time catching up with all the work. But yes! Give me a few free hours and it would be...
Any volunteers willing to jump in?
version 4.7 has a lot of potential and I would like to work on it, on plugins, the stuff we really need in life
ejournal could work even for commercial projects, well let us see

techczech commentedUnfortunately, I'm not a coder so all the help I can supply is testing and feature requests. The best I can do is create the .info file to get things started (see enclosed).
I'm mostly interested in academic publishing - features like annonymous review and other similar workflow issues.

crbassett commentedI am not a programmer, but would also provide testing and feedback.

romca commentedMany thanks!
I appreciate any feedback, languagemaven and bohemicus, any kind of help, ejournal does not need only programmers but mainly users (for instance, I was still unable to put together a good instructions - the module is not so simple and more info would be welcomed). I will try to get back to ejournal when/if time permits, sometimes it is more than difficult.
Best,

anonymous reviews might be easy, but maybe you could post your ideas. I think, what is so far weak in ejournal, the peer-review workflow is more important for e-journals.

techczech commentedI started a new issue for peer review and other academic workflow stuff here http://drupal.org/node/114153.

groundstate commentedYes, we are dying for a 5.0 upgrade!
You can see a great example of E-Journal in action (4.7 of course) at: http://www.ultravires.ca
We would love to upgrade to 5.0 as soon as possible. I would also be interested in helping with a user manual, testing, and UI improvements.
Thanks for the great work!

techczech commentedA new group was started discussing issues of using Drupal in the academic contexts including using ejournals. Some ejournal users may be interested in joining at: http://groups.drupal.org/drupal-research-and-academia.

samdiener commentedThanks for your work developing this module. We are using it for our www.peaceworkmagazine.org site. We would like to be able to upgrade to Drupal 5, but need ths module. Any predictions as to when you might be able to get back to it? I wouldn't be able to do the coding, but if I were to try to recruit programmers to work on it, what would helping with the upgrade require of programmers?
In Peace,
Sam Diener

romca commentedThanks Sam,
somebody contacted me few weeks ago whether he can make a 5.0 port and I agreed, but don't know what is the status of it (I will write to him/her). I am better off by now so I can start working on e-journal in two weeks, but even then I cannot promise miracles.
As for the requirements: the programmer(s) must have a very good understanding of Drupal internal architecture, know Drupal modules, and of course PHP - very good would be understanding/experience with publishing systems of (peer)reviewed journals.
Yours peacefully,
roman

romca commentedEjournal was ported, some issues must be fixed, but it works (ported last night, so please test and report issues, if you are still interested).
I would be very much pleased to get some comments from the academic publishing sphere, i have plans to make e-journal of a good use to serious publishing, as the Drupal is a powerful platform.
