I am updating from D6 to D7. and just follow what the UPGRADE.txt says but get following messages:
The following updates returned messages
taxonomy module
Update #7005

.
Here are what I've done for the update.
1. Log in as user ID 1 (the site maintenance user).
2. Go to Administer > Site configuration > Site maintenance. Select "Off-line" and save the configuration.
3. Go to Administer > Site building > Themes. Enable "Garland" and select it as
the default theme.
4. Go to Administer > Site building > Modules. Disable all modules that are not listed under "Core - required" or "Core - optional".
5. On FTP client, remove the file sites/default/default.settings.php
6. Remove all old core files and directories, except for the 'sites' directory;
7. Download the latest Drupal 7.x release. Extract the archive and copy the files into my Drupal directory.
(here my understanding is to include the 'sites' to cover the one I didn't romoved early)
8.Run update.php by visiting http://www.mywebsite.com/update.php.
then I can see the updating page and started to update, the problem is, I got timeout warning first, then I updated it again. after all updates completed, then I got following message from the webpage, it seems that it caused by re-update.
So my question is how can I solve this problem? the finished update page said that you may need to update your database manually. All errors have been logged.
although, it listed the links for FRONT PAGE and ADMINSTRATION PAGE, but first link gave me a 500 error. and the second give me a blank.
I appricate if there are any help.

steinmb commentedHi.
Why are you using D7RC4 and not 7.0?
If the upgrade fail during upgrade you could end up with a 50% D6 and a 50% D7 something that will not work and produce all kinds of error messages. Jumping to example.com/update.php will normally enable the upgrade script to start over again with the pending upgrades left.
One of the most important during an upgrade is noting what ever errors the upgrade script rapports and errors in your php error log.

cweagansSupport requests are never critical or major.

neRok commentedIm just going over some old core issues and closing what I can.
I think this can be closed, seeing as some good suggestions were posted, and there were no follow up comments.
