Hi,

What do yo mean by top banner? And how would you like to change it?

Hi,
Sorry if I wasnt clear.
Its the white background where the Site Name and Search appear (On top of primary menu).
I planned to replace it with .jpg file.

On your theme settings page you can disable the logo, site name, slogan and search box (admin/build/themes/settings/kanji for Drupal 6)
Now you have only the 'header' region in that white space. You can add a block with the jpg, if necessary you can add some custom CSS to the custom.css file inside the theme or add it with the CSS injector module.
