it's possible to set up email templates in the rules module, but it makes for an ugly UI to pass off to clients. It would be great if PET could expose each template as an action in the rules module, that way a site admin could adjust templates without having to dig through the Rules module.

Mail Template already supports Rules and it uses mimemail for mailing

We've decided to freeze features on the 6.x-1.x branch and just fix bugs. Will consider this for the D7 port.
