Instead of having the weight set beforehand, we can show this in the content type manage display ui so that its weight can be set and be allowed in different regions should the user use something like display suite. Please note that the cache needs to be cleared before the field will show up properly.

The patch in the summary applies fine and fixes the issue. This is definitely a must have in Drupal 7, though I would use just "Signup" as the field title, but that's minor.
