The request is for the ability to allow users to enter an existing path alias in the path field when creating new custom menu item. Currently this is "allowed", however, if the path alias was used in creating the menu item the resulting menu block does not expand when there are multiple menu levels. All top level links do work - but sub levels are forever hidden.

for that matter - is it possible to directly insert pages into the menu structure on the page creation page?

would save a step of having to go back to the menu dialog
