User Location at registration associated with Content Profile but not User

I am using User Location and Content Profile so that I can, using Views, allow users to search for other users based on distance/proximity.

It is working great, but in order for it to do so, users have to enter their address twice - once under their Content Profile page and once on their User Account page. Even more oddly, when I force users to put in their location at registration (under "User settings") a funny thing happens: the location becomes associated with their Content Profile node, but not with their User account.

Any hints about what I can do? Ideally, I'd like users to put in their location at registration and that address be associated both with their User account and with their Content Profile node. Any guidance will be appreciated.
