Site looks looks cute. I wouldn't explicitly link to the rss feed, though. And your "summary of stuff" should probably actually link to the stuff it summarizes.

Your "search" area is nearly invisible. It should have far more contrast.
The "search" button has no indication that it is a button so just looks like text.
The search field text is centered which makes entering text feel strange.

Thanks. I agree about RSS link, I've moved it to the footer.
Don't want to link in the descriptions - only one menu for consistency.
I view on a laptop screen which generally has contrast/brightness issues - didn't see such a problem.
Agree there is little indication that 'Search' is a button. Can't believe too many people will be confused - or even click search buttons.
Seach text centered - don't know why, but i like this - single word searches are not pressing the side of the box.

You'd be surprised. Right now your search button just looks like a right-aligned label. It needs a border at least, preferably a 3D appearance. Let the browser handle with displaying the button, that's what people are used to.

I'm not a fan of CamelCase (as in FruitScone). Otherwise looks good and hopefully not too minimalistic.

The search box is too low contrast. Try putting a slightly darker 1px solid border around it. Or try putting 1px of white padding with a same-colour 1px border outside that. Or something.
The links on your front page saying what is what should be clickable.
When I hover over "bites" I get lots of HTML in the href title popup.
The photo gallery could do with centred captions below the images.
It's OK. Bit grey, though. Somewhat boring looking. :) (You did say to be blunt.)

Neat site. I like:
The simplicity (I've been on the net so long, I'm into content, not fluff LOL)
The menu being set in a little from left
The direct link to 'user'
Description of menu items--neat idea!
Problems I found:
when hoovering over 'bites', I get html, not a description. All other menu items gave me a description.
Search field and link barely visable, had to squint to see it.
Your news page? I have to scroll to the right to see all the content.
Add some type of title across the top, even if it's small. I was on the site for three or four minutes and already have forgetten the name.
Other than that, I like it. Gallery is very nice!!

Agreement, mostly
I like CamelCase at the moment, but I think it's a temporary fashion.
I've increased the contrast of the search box and made the cursor position more natural.
I haven't figured out how to centre the thumbnail titles yet.
fixed bites hover and news page.
I'm happy with the anonymity of it. The scones suffice for branding.

Good job geokker! 'bites' shows the right pop up for me now and the search is MUCH better. If you're pleased with the anonymity of the site, then you're all set :-) It's a really good, simple--yet encompassing--design, hats off!
