The zip download for ELMS contains a bunch of Mac OS X meta-data that I don't think should be in there. After unpacking the archive on Linux, the __MACOSX/ directory that is included apparently uses 32MB of disk space. Removing it will also make the download file smaller - double win :-)

can anyone else confirm this? I've seen this happen when unzipping files to windows that were packed on osx but I'm not sure there's a way to get rid of it.

Anyone else know? I'll try packing it in parallels and see if the file size is any different, thanks for the heads up.

opened it up in windows and can confirm it's there. I don't think it's a 32 meg folder though is it? In looking at it everything seems very small (haven't been able to extract it yet) though regardless it is annoying that that shipped with it bc of it being on a mac :\.

Know any ways of telling osx to not include this header junk?

If I zip everything up in parallels the goofy __MACOSX folder structure doesn't appear on an unzip. I won't push this change into the alpha 3 zip as it currently stands but I've got it in my "workflow for turning into a distro" file so it'll be in future releases. Thanks for the catch / info, this will reduce the zip file size by 3.2 megs in its current state.

it was also reported that the zip included hidden dreamweaver files .DS index files. Both will be removed in future versions as ELMS snapshots will be taken using the seedling module (http://drupal.org/project/seedling), included in Alpha 4.
