Has any one got any plans to develop a Wish List module?
Ubercart has a Wish List module but it's lacking some features. My wish list for a wish list module would be -
1) Allow multiple wish lists per user so users could categorise products
2) Allow products to be moved from one wish list to another and also the shopping cart
3) Allow products to be prioritised (e.g. most wanted, least wanted) in the lists
4) A drag and drop weighting system for products in wish list (something badly missing from Amazon's wish list) so users could sort the lists how they want rather than defaulting to sorting by date added
5) Allow optional expiry date for lists (Ubercart's module had an expiry date on lists which got annoying as some people may add a product to a wish list and not purchase it for months, possibly years)
6) Allow user to set permissions for lists (private or public)
8) e-mail a list to someone automatically e.g. send the list to family members automatically one month before Xmas
I'm sure some of the things could be done with Views but if someone is thinking of creating this module then it would be great if they could use these ideas for a default view.
I would love to be in a position to develop this module myself but I'm heavily involved in some urgent Drupal 6 projects at present and haven't had the chance to look into the Commerce API to start developing for DC yet.
Thanks

bojanz commentedI don't know of any plans to develop a wish list module, but the basic functionality could be made with the Flag module and some other contributed modules for it (such as Flag Weights).
Combined with Views, I'm not sure there's much left for a contrib module. Still, it's something that should be explored by the community.
Edit: Okay, I've just learned that the D7 version of Flag doesn't support random entities yet (it's the plan for version 3), only nodes. So what I wrote is not currently achievable. Relevant thread: #1035410: Flag any entity

amateescu commentedI'm working on a wish list contrib module. I came to the same conclusion as bojanz in #1 (about using the Flag module) and after a talk with rszrama on IRC, his suggestion was to use the order entity for the wishlist implementation, very much like how it's used by Commerce Cart :)
My feature list had almost all points from the OP, except 2), 3) and 4). Btw, isn't 3) the same thing as 4)? If you have the ability to drag and drop products in the wish list, doesn't that imply that you order them as the most wanted, least wanted product?
I'll stop working on this module for a few days to get more feature requests so I can plan the best development ideas from this early stage.

drupalgideonI agree with #3! Thanks amateescu! I didn’t think about the Flag module at all – my thoughts all along that it would be like a cart after watching Ryan’s presentation video.
In regards to your question about 3 & 4, they are similar in my opinion but not quite the same, as you may have lots of products you want as high priority but still want to order them manually. I suppose I should have combined the two into one.
One other thought, it would be good to add a comment (like Amazon) to a product in a wish list too.
I really look forward to seeing what you’ve come up with.
Thanks

pixelsweatshop commentednodequeue would be another option to look at http://drupal.org/project/nodequeue. A user can create multiple lists, save them to their profile etc...all out of the box

rszrama commentedThe reason I recommended using an Order was b/c you can then ensure that the customer's shipping address is specified per wishlist. Additionally, since order numbers are managed separately from order names, it's fully possible for the Wishlist module to allow users to provide custom names for orders marked as wishlists. You'd also have ready-made Views integration not just for listing out a customer's various wishlists but also for editing their contents (a la the cart form). I recommended it work by creating a custom state for wishlists, including a single default wishlist status (that functions as a "cart" status so the products are constantly updated to the latest price.
All that said, I hadn't thought about the simpler suggestions mentioned in this thread. There could very well be room for multiple types of wishlist modules. : )

bojanz commentedAs far as I know, nodequeue can't work with generic entities either. So all of the mentioned generic solutions aren't ready.
Having a real solution is great ;)

amateescu commented@SkidNCrashwell, sorry, I wasn't able to work on this for some time as I switched my attention to other contrib projects.

Anonymous (not verified) commentedJust to let you guys know there's now a Commerce Wishlist module available (currently in Dev).
Any help with testing and feedback would be more than welcome. =)

drupalgideonAwesome! I shall check it out this weekend with luck and let you know my feedback.
Just read the TODO as well, I think the item should be removed from the Wish List if PURCHASED and they added from the Wish List page. If the item is just moved to the basket, what would happen if the user empties their basket and they lose the product from both basket and wish list.
Thanks.

Anonymous (not verified) commentedI agree with products only being removed from the Wishlist after being purchased. Although I wouldn't mind if the products just stayed in the Wishlist, letting me - the user - decide if I want to finally delete them from my wishlist or if I'd like to keep them for whatever reason (for example, if I had written a note about it).
I talked to my co-worker (the one actually developing the module) and he asked if you could report any finds and any suggestions you might have in the project's Issues page.
Thanks.
