I'm about to launch into a content audit but realistically, a small team of part-time volunteers is never going to be able to audit even a reasonable percentage of d.o.'s 700,000+ published nodes in any sort of meaningful way.
What would be super useful is voting module, where anyone viewing the page can report back to us if the page has problems. Then those of use who care about the quality of content on d.o. can focus our efforts on the pages that are shown to need the most work.
Examples are "What this page helpful to you?" and if they vote no, they are given the option to leave a comment.
Or... I haven't tried this out but this seems ideal: http://drupal.org/project/feedback
Thoughts?
EDIT to add links to #1113574: Drupal.org needs a content strategy and http://groups.drupal.org/node/139814

My sense is that Feedback is a bit "heavy" for us on drupal.org.

laura s commentedThe issue escapes me atm, but does this relate to the doc structure revamp where comments are placed by display of issues related to that page, with a link for people to post a new issue if an existing issue does not exist? (I'm not sure where that stands, but it was in heavy discussion last fall or winter.)

laura s commented*replace comments, that is.
The issue is #810508: Kill handbook comments. Worth reviving?

lisarex commented@laura s, that could work for non-doc pages, but it doesn't help us become aware of problems on non-node pages, e.g. those that are tpl's or the login page, for example. That other issue needs some reviving too :)

lisarex commentedTo clarify, I think d.o. needs Get Satisfaction-like feedback mechanism. Threads like Wake up community - Wordpress.org should scare you! (http://groups.drupal.org/node/136294) point out a lot of ways that drupal.org content is letting down it's audiences.
Many of these people will never file an issue. They don't think in the Drupal way, so can't behave in the Drupal way. They can't find what they need, can't find a way to make suggestions, they get frustrated.
Since d.o. doesn't have a product manager, we have to find ways to capture feedback that is a) obvious for visitors and b) useful for the d.o. team.
