Hi, I have a site that is currently on 4.7.2 and saw that 5.0 is available. I wanted to know if the upgrade process is straightforward? I know my question has probably been answered in the other posts but I cannot find a simple for someone who hasn't done this yet. I want to minimize as much problems as possible. I have a current back up of my sql db and files. Any help would be appreciated.

Is there maybe just a simple list of instructions somewhere?

Simple but more detailed than say "Update your Drupal sources" ... I'm not even sure what that refers to exactly.

As far as I can see, no one has compiled canonical written instructions for upgrading from 4.7.x to 5.x. The installation instructions just make a vague handwave. There are vague hints here and there that you need to do a series of stepwise upgrades (4.7.4 to 4.7.5, 4.7.5 to 4.7.6, 4.7.6 to 5.0, and then and only then 5.0 to 5.1), but I've yet to find anyone ever spelling it out. Perhaps because if they did, we would see what a painful process it is?

The irony is that someone had to have prepared such a list in order to create the bloody video that everyone points to. Just post the script, dammit; we'll figure out the rest!
