Here is what I did:

* Imported a Wordpress blog.
* Everything worked fine.
* There is a role called Editor who has the obvious rights to delete / edit content.
* Many nodes were converted into other content types.
* The Editor is however not able to do anything with these CCK nodes. Error is Access Denied.
* The problem is ONLY with nodes that were imported. There are no problems with old ones.

I have the same issue, nodes are editable by UID 1 but no others. Anyone have any ideas?

This was an input format issue after my import. http://drupal.org/node/148629#comment-238039 helped me solve it.
