I would like to integrate simpletest with running Selenium tests. Idea is described on http://groups.drupal.org/node/129939#comment-463399

I have started working on this issue and have some results: I can run selenium browser from simpletest and open url. Truly to say I have just copied and modified Driver class and changed it a bit. I think this is the way to go and we can change asserts to be in the line with simpletest assrts.

What problem I have at the moment is how to access to sandbox from outside? I can see that simpletest does call via curl but how it gets directed to sandbox?

I am attaching patch to show my current state of work and module with test.

In order to run it, please download Selenium RC and run it http://code.google.com/p/selenium/downloads/detail?name=selenium-server-...

Thanks for the great work.

May I point you to #825436: Create selenium-RC PIFR plugin for full functional testing where there are already other participants? If you don't mind, I'm going to mark this as a dup of that one and encourage you to continue over there. If you disagree, just reopen this and that's fine.

IMO it would be best to do this in D8 core and then backport to the Simpletest module; that's just a matter of opinion though.

I also encourage you to go ahead and create a sandbox for your work, as it makes it much more accessible and demonstrable to people. (Of course, that's an argument for working with just simpletest, but maybe you could work with just the D8 simpletest module to start.)

Maybe @boombatower or @davereid have other opinions. I'm open. Looking forward to the great work!
