Hi,
I have to build e-ticket functionality onto my site by the end of the week (www.pimpsandhoessociety.org.uk) I already have the eCommerce module installed and running to accept payments of a ticket product I've created (you can't see it on site yet as we're finalising venue details etc.)
However, what I hope someone may have, or have any ideas on how to build (quickly!) is a module to sell e-tickets. That means, if someone orders 3 tickets on the site, before they purchase, they enter the name and e-mail address of each ticket, and this gets added to the guestlist which can then be printed out and e-mail to a mailing list. If you're trying to understand what I'm thinking of, just think of when you book an airline ticket online, you enter details of each passenger when you buy the tickets, and then pay for them altogether in one transaction.
If anyone has developed this and can give me a copy or has a lot of experiance working with the eCommerce APIs (I have none) both would be appreciated to kickstart this. If there's any similar modules that can be customised out there also glad to know about them. I want to get this fully working by the end of the week - got 200 tickets to sell - and if I can't then I'm going to need people to e-mail me names seperately, or even post out printed tickets to the main address holder.
Thanks in advance for any help on this!

P.S.
I'm sure some of the entrepreneurs (spelt right??) out there may see this as an opportunity to offer their services on this one. I'm happy to listen to offers, but as I'm not making any money on this even (its just for my birthday) that would be a last resort, and it would have to be cheap!

CCK + Views?
Haven't played with the e-commerce module package yet but maybe it would be possible with CCK + Views modules. I recommend you check them out and see if they help.
Happy birthday in advance - do send an invite once you get it working ;)

Maybe...
This could work, just created content type e-ticket and a printable guestlist using views module. However, still needs to hook into the e-commerce site. I'll look at the code, but anyone who knows the best way to do this (is there a hook?) so that when they order the ticket, they get to a screen with table to enter name/email for each ticket holder, would be much appreciated.

Actions + Workflow
You might get some help from this Lullabot instructional video. It covers how to use the Actions and Workflow modules to send an e-mail notice every time new content is posted to a site.
Not quite what you're after, but it may be close enough that you can use it as a jumping-off point.
Did you get it working?
I'm looking to do this very thing for a client. Did you get it working. If so, how did you do it and is it working well?

I did pretty much this exact thing
I did pretty much this exact thing. Created an "entry" type to collect all info and than, on submission, sent them to a payment screen as well as send them an email with actions and workflow. That was for entering the yacht race.
For simpler things like party tickets, I just created a product (better to use tangible/shippable to be able to have inventory control until e4 comes out) and sold it.
The only programming I did was that I did not like any of the views. I wanted a list by product of who had bought. So I created a module. My very very first.
It is not polished, but it does the trick for me. The modules are working well, and we have taken in about $70k in revenue
:)
a new contrib module?
Hi,
I wonder whether it's worth the trouble of submitting your first module as a contrib and get a few other interested programmers involved to expand on your good work?
I'd certainly like to use some sort of events ticketing in the future for my site. Congrats on the revenue as well [thumbs up]
I too would like to see this
I too would like to see this as a working module (or detailed tutorial) as i am also going to need this type of functionality quite soon.
