I did some work (http://drupal.org/node/79720) based off Tagadelic, which webchick has done some work on (http://drupal.org/project/community_tags) to turn this into a separate module (not sure of its current state, may need a port to D5) depending on Tagadelic. IMO we should probably focus on these two modules for this type of functionality.

Would it be possible to (at least temporarily) turn off the awTags
project? I looked for a way to either disable or remove the project,
but could not find it.

I was originally hoping that I'd be able to provide a tarball (similar
to how the project module is working on the labs site) with the
release and then work on getting the other bits set up afterwards
(awTags is a piece of a larger project and is actually maintained on
that projects subversion server - getting it all untangled is turning
out to be both trickier and more political than expected).

I'm reading through the Drupal CVS guide (and desperately tying not to
do anything terribly stupid), so that when I when I get through the
bit of chaos on this end (and having a somewhat better understanding
of how things run on your end), that things will go a little moer
smoothly.

Been 1.5 years... If they're not sorted by now, re-open. ;)
