Hi, I'm brand new to Drupal so I'm unaware of the issues with upgrading a module from 4.7 to 5. Any plans to upgrade the Conference module to 5? It is perfect for a site I will be doing later this year. If no one is going to do this I may throw my hat in the ring after I get some more experience with Drupal.

hoelterhof commentedUpgrading this module to 5 would be fine! Currently we are using this module with drupal 4.7. I will post a new and improved version for 4.7 within a month. We need this version to organize our conference. After that i don't know if there is a need for us to upgrade this module. But that would be the time to do it because is has been tested during all phases of the organisation of an academic conference.
I also have no idea about the extent of work concerning such an upgrade. In some days i will install my first drupal 5 installation and i will have a look at the modules :-).
Thanks for your interest!

mfh commentedI've produced a 5.x version. (still testing, I don't know Drupal well, doing most by trial & error...)
How can I "submit" it ?

techczech commentedGreat. I can't wait for a 5.0 version - I'm about to set up a site for a conference. You might be interested in the new group on Drupal in research and academic contexts that was just started as an offshoot of discussions around the Biblio module. It is on http://groups.drupal.org/drupal-research-and-academia. I suspect that there is a lot of overlap of interest between users of this module, Biblio and eJournal.

techczech commentedMFH, if you need any help testing your version 5 upgrade, you can post it here. I'd be happy to give it a whirl.

mfh commentedSorry for the delay ; I'm finally ready to post by 5.x version (pre-release version, I fear some things concerning node permissions need to be checked & maybe fixed (posting modified version after the time limit...))
It will be by first "commitment" of source code ; don't know yet at all how this works and how much time it will take to me to figure out.
You suggested "post it here" ... as an attached file ? OK, I'll try... since there are several files needed for 5.x, I'll put the tgz.

mfh commentedhere it is.
as mentioned, it's a development snapshop.
please test and post bug reports ASAP.
the .module file has 5 times the original size, but this is mainly due to added documentation (of code and for users : help, #description instructions,...),
the code itself has rather been compactified in several places (duplicate email setting form items etc).
PS: I could not attach the zip file, neither the figure out how to put it properly on the CVS,
so I try to attach the zip file after adding the .odt extension : you'll have to remove it, the file indeed is a zip file !
