This is strange and I wonder whether it's just a problem of my configuration. The date facet block displays two facets:

    01/01/1970 - 19:25 (1)
    01/01/1970 - 19:26 (1)

Hovering over them they have the correct filter URL though:

?filter[created][0]=%222011-03-15T14%3A51%3A57Z%22
?filter[created][0]=%222011-03-15T14%3A52%3A31Z%22

The problem was in the Solr backend, as it returned date facets in a wrong format. Dates are handled as timestamps in Search API (and Entity API), what you see in the URL is Solr's internal format that the Search API can't deal with.
Should be fixed with now in the dev version.

Note, however, that using date facets usually doesn't make any sense either way: As date facets are currently returned as individual values, not ranges (at least by my own two backends), you'll only get a list of dates, all with one result.

The Search API ranges module would be more suited for that, although I think it can't handle dates at the moment (or at least just handles them as integers).
