I can't figure out the purpose of this textarea from the description of it (but I admittedly don't know much about AdWords conversion tracking).

Could you add a line or two to the README about what it is for?

here's a patch that adds some documentation to the README, and also updates some of the form field descriptions.

there should also be documentation added to the project page, which only the maintainer can do!

The new module 7.x-2.x branch has a completely new design. We will have to document the function of that.
